Eclipse Hangs on Start-up, Workspace on NFS Share

Symptoms

• Eclipse hangs on start-up with splash-screen.  Never progresses past that point.
• Your Eclipse workspace resides on a NFS share.

Solution

Turn off file locking in Eclipse with command line option.

eclipse -vmargs -Dosgi.locking=none
